2018 is the Year to Dream Big and Create the Success You Want

The new year is an excellent time to start looking at what you want to achieve during the next year.   It’s time to dream BIG!   What success do you want to have this year?   Personally?  Professionally?  Spend some time thinking about what would make 2018 a successful year for you.    Here are a few tips to create the success you want:

Have a Vision for Your Success and Create a Solid Plan to Make that Vision a Reality – To create success, you must be able to visualize what success looks like for you.   After you can see it, make it concrete and measurable.   The only way to know if you achieve it is if it is specific and quantifiable.   Then develop a strong and clear-cut plan to achieve your goals.   You need to outline definitive steps to make your vision a reality and then focus on those steps every day.  Also, share your goals, let others know what they are so they can help you achieve them.

“Think big and don’t listen to people who tell you it can’t be done.   Life’s too short to think small.” – Tim Ferriss, Author

Believe You Have the Power — Many people feel like lots of things just happen to them and that they don’t have a lot of control.   Don’t give up your power by relinquishing your responsibility.   Step forward.  Make a difference.  Do your VERY best every single day.  You can have more power to create a positive environment for yourself than you think you do.

“Each person’s destiny is not a matter of chance; it’s a matter of choice.   It’s determined by what we say, what we do, and whom we trust.” – Truett Cathy, Founder of Chick-fil-A

Run Your Professional Life Like It’s Your Business –   Your professional life IS your business, even if you work for someone else.   Think like an entrepreneur.   What are you doing to grow and improve your business?   What can you change to get a better result?  Constantly evaluate what activities get you the biggest return.  Spend more time doing those and less time doing the ones that don’t get you a return.  Consider what would happen if you just increased your effort on productive activities by 10%.

“The best way to predict the future is to create it.” – Peter Drucker, Management Consultant

Continue Learning – The average CEO reads 60 books a year.   They know that one of the keys to success is constant learning.   Today, there are more options for continued growth and learning than ever before with books, video courses, white papers, in-person courses, learning skills from co-workers or friends and more.

“The key to success is dedication to life-long learning.”  Stephen Covey, Educator and Author

Leverage Your Network – Make sure your network is full of positive forward moving people.    Share your goals with your network.   Find out how you can help people in your network achieve their goals. Ensure that your network knows what you do and how they can help you.

“If you are not networking, you’re not working.” – Denis Waitley, Motivational Speaker

Don’t Settle for Mediocrity –   Pay attention to details, they are very important.  Have a plan each day that gets you closer to success.   Focus on the activities that will help you achieve the success that you want every single day.

“The greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it but that it is too low and we reach it.” – Michelangelo, Sculptor, Painter, Architect, and Poet
