Celebrate the best of Mardi Gras here in Houston! Here are a few events in Houston that will give you an authentic New Orleans Mardi Gras celebration without having to make the drive.


Mardi Gras! Galveston

Not only is it the third largest Mardi Gras celebration in the United States, it’s only a short drive from Houston! This is a two-week event that hosts festivals, parades, and concerts! It is held on the streets of Galveston’s Strand historic district and should definitely be on the top of your list if you are hoping to celebrate Mardi Gras big.

Mardi Gras Parade and Celebration

Saturday, February 10th from 1:00 PM – 11:30 PM 

Houston’s first-ever Mardi Gras celebration is happening on the 10th in the downtown area. This is a free event that is going to be happening all day and since it is new they are looking for feedback and suggestions for the event! The city of Houston is having a parade and offering people the chance to celebrate the traditional Mardi Gras hundreds of miles away from New Orleans. Houston Creole Heritage Festival

Saturday, February 24th from 12:00 PM – 7:00 PM 

The Creole Heritage festival celebrates Mardi Gras as well as educating attendees on the importance of Creole culture and coming together as one. This festival will be serving popular Creole and Southern cuisine, including gumbo, boudin, and crawfish etouffee. Brennan’s of Houston Mardi Gras 2018

Tuesday, February 13th from 5:45 PM – 9:45 PM.

Brennan’s is a top restaurant in Houston with roots in New Orleans that offers amazing creole food and drinks all year round. They offer an authentic New Orleans-style Mardi Gras celebration that is $65 per person and includes a starter, entree, and dessert. They also serve a wide variety of cocktails and wines. If you are in the mood for some live music they will also be having a live jazz band. This event is perfect for anyone wanting to celebrate Mardi Gras in a more intimate and relaxed setting. Mardi Gras Celebration and Parade at The Woodland’s Children’s Museum

Tuesday, February 13th at 10:45 AM, 11:30 AM and 12:15 PM

Looking for some kid friendly Mardi Gras festivities? Check out the Woodland’s children’s museum and what they have to offer! They will have parades running at 10:45 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. There will also be various kids activities such as making and decorating their own jester hats and noisemakers. After the parade, they will be serving traditional beignets and King Cake for all those in attendance.
