5 Gadgets Your Family Should Invest In

Everybody loves gadgets and new technology. That said, there are many fun gadgets that amuse us, and then there are practical ones that are helpful to us in our homes and daily lives. The following are a few types of gadgets that everyone should invest in to make their home life easier and safer.

A Robot Vacuum

Vacuuming is one of those tedious chores no one wants to do, so don’t do it. Normally, this might get you in trouble. However, thanks to a  plethora of robot vacuums on the market, you can skip the vacuuming without it being an issue. This is especially convenient for rooms up or down stairs where you don’t want to lug a huge vacuum. Use them to clear a room of debris or spot check before visitors arrive. Just be sure to change it frequently.

A Smart Thermostat

Those who are conscientious about lowering their carbon footprint will be glad to hear about smart thermostats. Basically, these devices learn how you like to keep the temperature in your home. This way, the air conditioning or furnace come on any more than is necessary. You can also adjust this remotely via your smartphone. This saves you money on your energy bill and gives you a good feeling about helping the environment.

A Security Camera

When you have a family, their safety becomes a top concern. When a potential burglar sees a camera, they will typically move on to find an easier game in town. When you search “home security cameras” on Amazon, you will see there are some for all budgets and with a wide array of features. Getting a whole package security system is also a good idea for adding value to your home and keeping you and your family protected all year long.

A Smart Smoke Detector

This gadget takes a plain smoke detector a step further. A good detector will also detect carbon monoxide, but what makes this one so smart is that it connects to your smartphone with an app, so you can be apprised of trouble even when you’re outside the house. A good one can also tell you what’s wrong and where the problem is originating from.

A Digital Butler

It’s hard to come up with a category name for products such as Amazon Echo or Google Home. Basically, these smart devices make your smart thermostat and smart smoke detector look dumb in comparison. Unlike their narrow functionality, these voice-activated gizmos can do an amazing variety of things.

As an entertainment hub, they can play music, tell you the latest sports scores, and a whole lot more. As a virtual assistant, they let you set reminders and make to-do lists as well as give you traffic updates before leaving the home. It really shines when it comes to being a smart home controller, which coordinates the function of any compatible home devices such as thermostats, smoke detectors, and lights. Basically, it’s a butler except that it can’t cook for you or draw your bath… yet.

The home gadgets mentioned above are ones the whole family can benefit from. We all want home to be a place where we feel comfortable, safe, and relaxed, and these can definitely help.
